Rule of Thirds

Guilin @ night, originally uploaded by starnetcs.

Rule of Thirds is an essential rule in photography composition. This image is clearly improved after I cropped it according to the rule. The pagoda is now placed to the intersection line of the grid line divided into 3 vertical and 3 horizontal lines.

Travelling to Guilin China 13-22/03/2009

My family and I travelled to Guilin, China on 13/03/2009 till 22/03/2009. The weather was just fine for us, ranging from 10 to 20 degree celcus. It was a tiring trip because we needed to drive 760Km from GuangZhou to Guilin by bus in 1 day. Dora was sick from the 3rd day because of the local foods, which was mostly oily. Luckily, my 3 kids was healthy and happy troughout the journey. I took a lot of photos with my new baby, Nikon D90. I'm not quite satisfied with the photos. Maybe the secenary there was mostly misty and looks blur for photography. I like blue sky. I think we skipped some of the most beautiful places in Guilin. We wasted too much time in shopping. Shopping is a nightmare for me in China. Chinese traders are always good in convincing tourists to buy their fake and highly over-priced products. I still prefer to visit China without joining any tour.
